Experimenting with new technology

This technology hub for retail giant Walmart required assistance with products catering to the end consumer, store associates, and corporate employees. I was involved in developing multiple products to support the users, multiple businesses, and stakeholders through discovery, iteration, testing, and detailed design.

Kiosk & handheld

This 2-by-4-foot in-store device provided an alternative way for consumers to find what they needed, purchase it, and pay in one spot. The product had a handheld counterpart for store associates to assist consumers on the floor.

The engineering and product teams had already developed an experimental product, so my first task was to analyze and test the existing product. I identified the most potential in improving the employee experience, so I began by concentrating on the handheld device.

UX improvements

The biggest opportunity for UX improvements was the menu, making it easier to read and find items. Additionally, I found opportunities in the checkout process by improving language clarity, order editing, and shipping options. I also upgraded the filtering system, which should make it easier for associates to find the right products.

Store trends

I developed a dashboard system to monitor and showcase sales activities conducted on the handheld device. This initiative aimed to ensure that managers stay informed about current trends and data, while also motivating associates to utilize the handheld device effectively.
